Vertical circulation and annex function nodes position allows for maximum surface on the slabs. The oversize capacity tries to stay within a compact volume and a minimal number of floors, taking from the context proportions and rhytm. Passive means of preserving solar energy were considered. Optimal opaque / transparent surface proportions differ according to orientation and cast shadow. Competition entry. Theoretical / methodological plea against the mere pavement-pattern and urban furniture design approach in not only local “urbanism”. Landscape-ecology systemic view of nodes and channels was speculated for dealing with the improvement of groud-floor public functions structure that would provide for complex public life in the square and vice versa. Our thinking got too complicated at that time, but at least it has cleared a direction that is worth tackling ever since.
